STUDY OF ISLAM
The newspaper ‘De Morgen’ published on 26-8-2008 an article under the “spectacular” title: Koran more kindly disposed towards women than thought.

The article is a classic example of people’s lack of knowledge and understanding when it comes to reporting on Islam. The article tells us: “That a ‘husband has to beat his wife’ appears to be a translation error.” It is telling readers that verse 4.34 from the Koran is consistently being mistranslated.
As it is, on the website www.BijbelenKoran.nl to which this article refers, we find a complete translation of the Koran, which is said to have been chosen for the following reason: “The Dutch translation of the Koran by Professor Leemhuis is widely proclaimed and appreciated.“
Adding insult to injury, the "sensitive" verse 4.34 is also in this version MISTRANSLATED as “beats her” (referring to rebellious wives). As we have it here, they are using a translation of the Koran that is declared „faulty“ while telling us at the same time that misunderstandings about Islam are based on mistranslations. All of this, of course, is plain absurdity.
These kinds of articles are actually symptomatic of communications about Islam and provide us with evidence that Islamic logic is quite distinct from the Western way of thinking.
It further demonstrates that converts such as one of the initiators of the project www.bijbelenkoran.nl, one Karima Bisschop, after adequate indoctrination into the Islamic faith, in their turn start to apply Islamic logic and, as a result, prove no longer quite capable of noticing that what they are proclaiming in passage A contradicts what they themselves have just said in passage B; in other words, it becomes difficult for them to separate reality from wishful thinking.
